Different bags need different checks. A tote, a flap bag and a structured top-handle bag are built differently, so the details we focus on can vary from one style to another.
We look for the things we would want caught before the bag reached us, too.

We start with the whole bag.
Before focusing on individual details, we first make sure the piece prepared for the order matches the style, size, color, hardware and any details already confirmed with you.
Overall shape
We set the bag down and look at it from the front, sides and base before getting into the smaller details.
A detail can look fine on its own but still feel off when the entire piece is viewed together. If something already looks noticeably wrong, we stop and take another look.
Corners, base & surface
We do not stop at the front of the bag. We turn it around and look at the back, sides, base, corners, folds, handle bases and the areas around hardware.
Materials and finishes can show small variations from one piece to another. We are not looking for two bags to be absolutely identical.
The question is simple: is there something obvious enough that it should be dealt with before this piece leaves?
The places that do the work
We pay extra attention to areas that take more stress during use, rather than only looking at the most visible rows of stitching.
Loose threads, open seams, skipped stitches, damaged edge finishing or an attachment point that does not look secure will make us stop and look again.
We do not just look at it.
We use it.
Depending on the style, we open and close zippers, test clasps, check that magnetic closures meet correctly, and attach removable straps or clips.
We also look for obvious scratches, loose hardware, visible damage or a closure that does not operate normally.

The lining, pockets, interior seams, internal zippers and corners receive attention too.
These are often the parts that receive much less attention in normal product photography, but they are parts you will actually see and use.
We look for obvious marks, damaged lining, open seams, visible residue or anything that does not operate as expected.
The details are easier to judge when you can actually see them.
This is the kind of closer view we use when checking the actual item before an order moves forward.

We stop.
Being ready to ship is not a reason to ignore something we have already noticed.
If an obvious issue comes up during the pre-shipment check, we pause the order before it moves forward.
What happens next depends on what we find.
Occasionally this means an order takes a little longer than originally expected.
We know waiting is not always convenient. But we would rather explain a delay than knowingly send a piece we already had concerns about.
Then you get to see it.
Once the item has been reviewed and is ready to move forward, we photograph the actual piece prepared for your order.
Depending on the style, the photos may show the overall piece, front and back, sides, hardware, interior and other details that are useful to see before dispatch.
These are not another set of website product images. They are photos of the item being prepared for you.
